At 9:40 am this morning we finally got the call - one day earlier than expected! Yeah! Our daughter's Chinese name is Gan Fu Hai (not sure what the translation is yet) and she was born October 21, 2010. We're thrilled she's just five and a half months old, which is among the youngest we've of heard for adoptions from China. When we pick her up she'll be around seven and a half months old. Here are her photos:

So adorable! |

Must be cold! The Chinese often "over-dress" their babies. |
 |
We're thankful she has some hair - often they shave it off... |
What we know... at three months (report dated Jan. 17, 2011) she was 61 cm (24 inches) long and 6.5 kg (14.3 lbs). Her sleep was moderate, she could hold her head up while lying on her stomach, roll from supine to prone position by herself, locate the direction of sound/voice, visually follow moving toys, follow you with moving head from one side to the other, laugh aloud, active, fond of listening to music, fond of playing games, having a ready smile and impatient sometimes :) Closest to caretaker(s) as opposed to other babies in her room. Not sure how old she is when photos were taken...
She's been living at the Jianxin Social Welfare Institute (orphanage) in Jiangxi Province.

The SWI is in the city of Yichun, but we'll meet our daughter in provincial capital Nanchang, I believe |
We're waiting for more info to be translated, including medical info which we hope to take to our doctor this Friday. And we still have to decide on a name - so will let you know when we decide. We won't know the travel date for a while but I imagine it will be the end of May or beginning of June. Lots to do between now and then! It's all very exciting!
Congratulations Julie and Randy! She's beautiful!
ReplyDeleteRegarding her name, we have a few suggestions from our camp: Ashley thinks you should call her "Alina" -- sounds like of Russian, if you ask me. Jack thinks you should name her "Jacqueline" -- don't know where he got that from??? And Charlotta thinks you should name her "Stephanie." Of course, these are only suggestions and we won't be offended if you don't choose any of them. ;-)

We are so thrilled for you both, she is beautiful and we look forward to watching you take the next steps in bringing her home.

Congratulations!!! Your daughter looks absolutely adorable even if you can't see most of her underneath her puffy jacket. We are all very happy over here to see Nora's newest friend up close. (I hope she gets to keep her hair...) Enjoy every moment of this time, and we wish you every joy and happiness in the days ahead.

PS Elise is wondering if babies from China never grow up???
Congratulations, Randy and Julie! We're so happy for your two. You have been in our thoughts for quite a while. She looks adorable and I can't wait to show her pictures to Chantelle and the girls! You two will be such great parents -- you already are with all your prayers and preparations. We look forward to your updates during the next 2-3 very exciting months. Looks like the baby has been well-cared for and we can't wait to meet her in person.
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful blessing from God!
